Data & Knowledge
Data & Knowledge is designed to hold the authoritative records in a relational database and encrypted object storage, with derived search and graph views.
This page describes a proposed architecture. It is not evidence of an existing deployment.
How it fits the platform
Every other component is designed to read and write through it, and it keeps each record linked from its botanical source to the assay observation.
Authoritative records
Scientific records, rights and transactions are designed to live in a relational database, and source documents, raw data and artifacts in encrypted object storage.
Derived views
Graph and vector indexes are designed to be derived, rebuildable views that carry permission metadata. Losing a cache or an index must not affect evidence or approvals.
One chain from source to observation
Records are designed to be linked in a chain: taxon, voucher or collection, preparation or extract, fraction, compound or material batch, and assay observation. Traditional-use claims, permissions, targets, computational runs, decisions and obligations link to that chain.
Evidence labels
Evidence is designed to be labelled so that literature claims, tentative annotations, confirmed structures, computational predictions and measured observations are never mixed.
